oh no...
Does it mean that I've jumped some sort of Firefly fandom shark if I (may or may not have added) Nathan Fillion and Jewel Staite to my MySpace friends list? I swear it's just so that I can read their blogs. I SWEAR. It's just that they're both really fun reads.
Gah.
Fine, I'm a stupid fanboy. Okay? FINE.

I would be more concerned with the public admission that you have a MySpace page, which includes time spent adding people as friends.
Wil-
I was once a naysayer too. It's not only incredibly addictive, but really fun too. I like to think of it as an accessory to real blogging. I dare you to try it for one month.
I have to say what is incredible is the fact that Fillion has something like 42k friends! holy crap!!!
Sorry I was way off.. it was only 14k friends. still.. DAMN!
I agree with Wil, and yet, now I'm thinking I kind of want a myspace account. D'oh!
I'm with Wil and Claire.
While I can see the advantage of such a site... the 15 year olds with the blindingly neon backgrounds and pussycat dolls blaring on their myspaces make it... hard... to digest.
Maybe once they all move over to facebook I'll give it a try.
To all of you doubters:
One month. What do you have to lose?
Dude. There is a line which must not be crossed, one month or not.
Besides, some 14 year-old girl has a fake Wil Wheaton account there already.

You should send the idea to Morgan Spurlock. I could see it now: 30 Days on Myspace. Will he survive, or will he succumb to dressing emo, listening to PCD, and competing for the biggest friendslist ever?
I too, am a professional adult who has a MySpace page. GASP! That is the first time I have admitted that, and it feels good.
It IS fun! I swear. My friends are mostly people from my work, and then famous people whose work I admire (Bif Naked, an awesome singer-songwriter named Colbie Caillat who I discovered in the Music section)...not all were well-advised - I do have Nicole Richie as a friend. Siiigh, that must have been a drunken friend-add.
I thought it might help me professionally some day too, as all the cool kids seem to be doing it.
PS Thanks for the comments on the wedding, Shane!! Nice to have the support.
I did the myspace thing... I caved, after months of resistance. Years even! Spent some time modding it (see? high class!) and I added them as friends as well.
Then I got into facebook. There is no turning back. Facebook is so much more addictive, and it's more private. And probably more addictive.
I especially like the shares feature :P
oh hell, its spreading like the plague.
I just had a meeting with a client who has to be in his late 30's/early 40s, and he actually directed me to his MYSPACE page for an example of a photo gallery he liked.
I'm going to plug my ears and hide under my desk rocking back and forth until it goes away...
